Relaxed Friday at the park, third day of fashion shows, and things are getting agitated at the Bienal! Today the SPFW got started with an external presentation: Reinaldo Lourenço brought the fashion enthusiasts to FAAP, Higienópolis neighborhood, in Sao Paulo, to tell a story of cowboys (better yet, cowgirls) modern and absolutely connected to their time. At the Bienal, the agenda was opened with Giselle Nasser and her precious dresses, followed by men’s wear (quite sober this winter) and Mario Queiroz. Going on with the fashion shows, we had Uma by Raquel Davidowicz, Huis Clos, with the most celebrated collection of the day, inspired by photographer Sarah Moon, Triton and its aristocratic high-school streetwear and, finally, Lino Villaventura.
Lino’s career got to its 30th year in 2008, and it was under a celebration atmosphere that he presented a true retrospective of his work on the catwalk – only dresses and precious pieces – and made the audience think deeply about the artistic work in fashion. Beyond the line-up, the highlight was the reading of the “Active Resistance Against Propaganda” by the queen Vivienne Westwood to an audience strictly composed by people with invitations, at the MAM conference hall. The British designer, that today finished her schedule in Sao Paulo, counted on the help of a group put together to represent the text lines written by her. An amusing and intellectual moment, inviting people to actively think over their choices and how to contribute for a better world, without over consuming, but making their decisions wisely. The rest is the rest.
