“Only after that, one could feel London Fashion Week was over” said Lee Carter about the Melissa + Zaha Hadid launching party that took place last Thursday, September 18th.
The North-American journalist had such an inspiring and meticulous depiction of the event for the highly important Hintmag.com that we decided to start from there to tell in details what went down on the super-party, which featured the presence of “fashiontelligentsia”– in Carter’s words – on a night that has already become legendary.
“Brilliant”, according to Carter, was the location choice – The Wapping Project art and culture center – that made the guests organize taxis and cars in advance, which made everything even more special. Pippa Brooks got the music started with a program curated by Richard Mortimer and installed on an elevated platform, right on the middle of the dance floor. Jefferson Hack, editor of Dazed&Confused magazine and the party’s main DJ came right after, taking fashionistas to the highlight of the night with his exclusive party-set.
Among the guests – everyone with mind-blowing looks - the art director (and a partner of Melissa) Judy Blame got the spotlight with a neck bandanna-like accessory made by himself in partnership with fashion-designer JJ Hudson and supermodel Ben Grimes, who’s just launched her own clothing line, LP BG. Róisín Murphy, according to Carter, had the most attention catching looks, of navy inspiration – already anticipating next summer’s trends on the north-hemisphere, by the way. Also drawing attention was Mark Ronson, with his black framed glasses, Mandi Lennard – our PR in London – with her important Chanel purse, Pam Hogg, all in metallic leather, and a few others.
