Fashionistas are more than anxious to welcome LOVE, the newest magazine of the Fashion Planet, which will be launched on the 19th of February in a special event at Dover Street Market, in London.
The publication is just born, but has already a fashion Bible status. Behind the project, which foresees an edition every two years, is the top editor Katie Grand, ex-Pop magazine. For the pages of this first number, Katie made a selection of the main fashion, arts in general and music icons of today: Lilly Allen, Iggy Pop, Eva Mendes, Amy Winehouse, Sofia Coppola, Kate Moss e Agyness Deyn, who has been photographed as Queen Elizabeth. 116 of the 336 pages of the magazine are ads, including one page of Melissa Lady Dragon by Vivienne Westwood and other brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Cartier, Burberry, Gucci, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Dior Jewlery, Stella McCartney and Dolce & Gabbana.
On the first cover of LOVE, the rock singer Beth Ditto, who is fan of Melissa, appears naked. In the interview inside the magazine, she admits her battles against weight and talks about times when she wasn’t popular at school. “I really want Lindsay Lohan to be gay”, says Ditto. “We’ve never had a young sexy couple of lesbians before”.
Even indirectly, Melissa is already part of LOVE’s universe: besides the ad and the cover with Ditto (who wore Melissa in her recent shows in Paris; see it again here), the magazine talks about other brand’s collaborators, such as designer Judy Blame, PR Mandi Lennard and Dover Street Market, the store that sells Melissa in London.
And at Dover, for the 19th this month, the highlight is the Love In store, which is open since last Saturday (the 14th) to sell articles in limited editions created by five designers invited by Grand especially for LOVE’s launching, together with an exhibition in homage to the magazine.
